At Red Thread PR, culture tends to reveal itself in the moments you don’t plan for as much as the ones you do. It’s in the quick detours from a meeting that turn into shared laughter, the Slack threads that spiral into something way funnier than intended, and the way people consistently show up for each other beyond the meetings on our Outlook calendars. The work is far more serious than we could ever take ourselves!
That has been especially true lately. An afternoon tarot card reading in our office and suddenly a normal Tuesday had a completely different rhythm. A Phillies watch party turned into a full team outing that felt less like an “organized event” and more like an excuse to be in the same place, reacting to every inning (and homerun!) together. And in between those bigger moments, there have been smaller in-person hangs, spontaneous celebrations (for client wins, baby showers and just-because-sweet-treats), our quarterly book/movie club, and so many other reasons to step away from screens and be in the same room sharing experiences, perspectives and of course, laughs. Those shared experiences today are the underpinning of teamwork, intense collaboration and team chemistry.
Whether pre-planned events or spur-of-the-moment treats, the red thread of it all is that none of it feels manufactured. There’s no checklist of “culture-building activities” being ticked; just a group of smart people who know a thing or two about creating connection – for clients and ourselves. And maybe that’s what makes it feel distinct. The best parts of the week aren’t always the big milestones or polished wins, but the unexpected pockets of connection in between.
