PHILADELPHIA, PA — [June 5, 2025] — Red Thread PR, the communications agency known for building bold narratives that drive social change, has been named the public relations partner for three mission-led organizations: Sharing Excess, Vetri Community Partnership, and Black Music City. These new collaborations underscore Red Thread PR’s focus on purpose-driven work across food security, health equity, and cultural empowerment.
“These organizations are doing vital work in Philadelphia and on a national scale—from redistributing surplus food to celebrating Black artistic excellence,” said Laura Emanuel, Managing Director of Red Thread PR. “We’re honored to help shape the stories that drive awareness, inspire action, and build long-term impact in our backyard and beyond.”
Founded in Philadelphia, Sharing Excess rescues and redistributes millions of pounds of surplus food annually by partnering with grocery stores, wholesalers, and farms, and working with food distribution nonprofits to get nutritious food to those in need. As agency of record, Red Thread PR will lead strategic communications, media relations, and reputation-building efforts designed to elevate the organization’s mission and expand its reach among national and global audiences.
“The work we do is urgent and evolving, and having a thoughtful PR partner helps us bring more people into the conversation and, ultimately, the solution,” said Evan Ehlers, Founder and Executive Director of Sharing Excess. “We’re excited to work with Red Thread PR to expand awareness and deepen community support.”
Another addition to Red Thread PR’s nonprofit portfolio is Vetri Community Partnership (VCP), which brings nutrition education to life through hands-on experiences in schools and communities, empowering individuals to make healthy food choices. Through this partnership, Red Thread PR will position VCP to external audiences as an organization that nourishes minds, bodies, and communities with nutrition education and cooking.
Rounding out the additions is Black Music City, a collaboration between public radio stations WXPN-FM and WRTI-FM, along with REC Philly, that celebrates Philadelphia’s rich legacy of Black music by awarding grants to local Black creatives. Red Thread PR’s engagement with the organization kicked off by building awareness of grantees’ stories and talents ahead of the awards showcase that is open to the public on June 19.
These partnerships reflect Red Thread PR’s deep commitment to advancing causes that matter and using communications as a tool for equity, inclusion, and lasting change. The dedicated teams working across these accounts bring a blend of nonprofit expertise, creative campaign development, and cultural fluency to ensure each organization’s voice resonates with the audiences who need to hear it most.
